Here, we want to point out a few particulars that don’t get as much attention as all those fantastic benefits.
- Invisalign is not an accelerated system. There is a common misconception that teeth will move more quickly beneath the gentle pressure of aligner trays, but that isn’t the fact. In minor cases, aligners may need to be worn for less than a year. The same could be said of braces, though. More than a fast treatment, Invisalign is a discreet and comfortable treatment, and that is where we put our focus.
- Comfort is subjective. Every person has his pain tolerance level. It is important to remember that, regardless of method, teeth straightening moves teeth. Therefore, some patients may feel slight soreness now and then. Comfort is usually sustainable with over-the-counter pain-relieving medication as needed.
- Teeth may stain. There is always a risk that certain foods and beverages can stain teeth. Invisalign doesn’t change this. In fact, it is recommended that oral care is turned up a notch during Invisalign treatment. A quick swish of water over teeth after meals and snacks is sufficient to help minimize the risk of stains.
